Biography
Myrna Loy was an American actress born on August 2, 1905. She was initially typecast in exotic roles, often as a vamp or a woman of Asian descent. Her career prospects improved following her portrayal of Nora Charles in The Thin Man. Loy had a successful pairing with William Powell, resulting in 14 films together, including five subsequent Thin Man films. She was presented with an Honorary Academy Award in March 1991, with the inscription "In recognition of her extraordinary body of work as an actress on the screen." Loy passed away on December 14, 1993.
