Moshonov's father, Moshe, studied law in Sofia, Bulgaria, and sold textiles in the Ramla market. Moshonov grew up in Ramla and served in an IDF entertainment troupe. He studied drama at Tel Aviv University and joined the Haifa Theater for five years. Moshonov made his film debut in 1977 in Masa Alunkot alongside Gidi Gov. He hosted the satirical TV show Zehu Ze! from 1978 to 1998 with Shlomo Baraba. Moshonov has appeared in at least 42 known credits.
