Mona Lee Washbourne was an English actress of stage, film, and television born in Solihull, Warwickshire, on November 27, 1903. Before her acting career, she trained as a concert pianist, participating in concert parties beginning in 1924, and later appeared on the London stage from 1937 following several years of professional stage acting and numerous stage musical performances. She began appearing in films in 1948. Her film credits include The Brides of Dracula in 1960, Billy Liar in 1963, and The Collector in 1965. Her most critically acclaimed role was in the 1978 film Stevie, for which she received nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award. She died on November 15, 1988, at the age of 84.
