Michael John Pratt was a British actor, musician, songwriter, and screenwriter born in London, England, on June 7, 1931. He began his career in showbusiness during the 1950s skiffle boom, writing and playing music with Tommy Steele and Lionel Bart. Pratt and Bart received a 1957 Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for Steele's hit Little White Bull, and Pratt earned a second Ivor Novello Award for A Handful of Songs, which he co-wrote with Steele. Pratt had several theatre and big screen credits, including a stint with the RSC. He was known for his television work, most notably co-starring as Jeff Randall in the ITC detective series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) alongside Kenneth Cope and Annette Andre. He died on July 10, 1976.

Despite his various credits, he was and remains best known for his role as detective Jeff Randall in the late 1960s ITC detective series Randall and Hopkirk, Deceased, alongside Kenneth Cope, who played Marty Hopkirk, and Annette Andre, who played secretary Jeannie Hopkirk.
