Miguel Picazo de Dios was a Spanish film director, screenwriter, and actor. Born in Cazorla, Jaén, Spain on March 27, 1927, he was raised in Guadalajara and initially studied law. Developing an interest in filmmaking, he entered Spain's national film school, the Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográficas, and graduated as a director in 1960 with his practice film titled Habitación de alquiler, which translates to Rented Room. Following his graduation, Picazo became a teacher at the newly restructured Escuela Oficial de Cine, known as the EOC, before eventually being able to direct his first feature film, La tía Tula, also known as Aunt Tula, in 1964. This work is noted as his best-known feature film, and it is described as an updated adaptation of a well-known novel.

Throughout his career, Picazo accumulated known credits in the film industry, spanning roles as a director, screenwriter, and actor. His professional trajectory moved from his early student work at the national film school to educational roles within the Escuela Oficial de Cine, culminating in his directorial debut with La tía Tula in 1964. Miguel Picazo de Dios passed away on April 23, 2016, at the age of eighty-nine.
