Michèle Girardon was a French actress born on August 9, 1938, in Lyon, France. Also known as Michelle Girardon, she achieved international stardom after teaching herself English while working on the set of Howard Hawks's film Hatari!. During the 1960s, she became romantically involved with José Luis de Vilallonga, a married Spanish nobleman and occasional actor whom she had first met on the set of Les Amants. The couple lived together for much of the 1960s. Girardon died on March 25, 1975, at the age of 36, having committed suicide via an overdose of sleeping pills.
