He made his acting debut at the age of eight, playing the lead role in the film Searching for Bobby Fischer, which is based on the childhood of International Master Josh Waitzkin. At the time of his appearance in the film, he was also ranked as one of the top 20 chess players in the United States within his age group. Following his debut, Pomeranc starred in the 1995 movie Fluke.
