Martha Sleeper (June 24, 1910 – March 25, 1983) was a film actress of the 1920s and 1930s and later a Broadway stage actress. Born in Lake Bluff, Illinois, she studied dancing for five years with Russian ballet master Louis H. Chalif at his New York dancing studio. Her first public exhibitions took place at Carnegie Hall during his class exhibitions. Sleeper began her screen career in her early teens as a comic actress for Hal Roach. Her first screen appearance was in the independently produced farce The Mailman in 1923. She appeared in a series of child comedies, including productions with Buddy Messinger.
