Marita Breuer is a German actress born on January 20, 1953, in Düren, Germany. She is best known for her portrayal of Maria Simon, also known as Maria Simon born Wiegand, in the Heimat series. Her career includes a role in Edgar Rietz's acclaimed series Heimat as well as playing her ancestor Margarethe Simon in the 2013 cinematic prequel Die andere Heimat – Chronik einer Sehnsucht, which is also known as Home from Home. In addition to her acting work in film and television, she began performing with her older brother, the composer and pianist Wolfgang Breuer, and the vibraphonist Matthias Strucken starting in the year 2002.
