Born on June 29, 1955, in Cienfuegos, Cuba, she has participated in multiple film and television productions throughout her career. She was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award as Best Leading Actress in 1996 for her role in Caught. As a singer, she has received several gold and platinum records and has been nominated three times for the Grammy Awards.
