Biography
Marco Ferreri was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor born in Milan on May 11, 1928. He began his career in the 1950s and went on to direct numerous films. His 1979 film Chiedo asilo won him the Silver Bear - Special Jury Prize at the 30th Berlin International Film Festival. Ferreri is also known for his film La Grande Bouffe, which starred Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Philippe Noiret and Ugo Tognazzi. He died in Paris on May 9, 1997, at the age of 68. Ferreri's work was recognized by Gilles Jacob, artistic director of the Cannes International Film Festival, who described him as one of Italy's most original and personal artists.
