Élodie Yung is a French actress and director born on February 22, 1981, in Paris. She is the daughter of a French mother and a father of Cambodian descent. Raised in Seine-Saint-Denis, she began practicing karate at age nine and eventually earned a black belt. Yung pursued higher education at the University of Paris, where she obtained a law degree with the intention of becoming a judge. She later shifted her career focus toward the performing arts, moving to England to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. In her personal life, she is in a long-term relationship with actor Jonathan Howard, with whom she has a daughter born in August 2018.
