Elena Sergeevna Katina is a Russian singer-songwriter and former lead singer of the pop group t.A.T.u., which is also known as Tatu and Тату. Her career in the music industry began in 1999 when she participated in a casting organized by advertising agent and producer Ivan Shapovalov. Following this casting, she joined a musical project that soon became known as Tatu. With the participation of composer Alexander Voitinsky, the songs Yugoslavia and Why am I were recorded. Later, an additional casting enrolled fourteen-year-old Yulia Volkova into the project. The group's first single, titled I'm crazy, was released in December 2000 and became a hit first in the CIS. The duo ultimately developed into Russia's most successful pop music act.

Since 2009, Katina has been participating in an international solo project under the name Lena Katina. Professionally recognized under her stage name, as well as several alternative designations, her known credits span twenty-four entries on the Movie Database platform, where her work is categorized under acting.
