Lembit Anton
Biography
Lembit Anton (April 22, 1922, Laanemõisa village, Rakvere parish – June 30, 2014) was an Estonian actor and writer.
He graduated in 1942 from Jäneda Higher Agricultural School, in 1947 from Tallinn Polytechnic Institute in civil engineering, in 1949 from the State Theater Institute of the Estonian SSR and in 1953 from the Estonian studio of GITIS. In the years 1946–1949, he also studied at the Tallinn Theater School, and in the years 1960–1962, he improved his skills in advanced directing courses at GITIS.
He was an actor at South Estonian Theater in 1949-1950, Drama Theater in 1953-1960, Moscow Variety Theater in 1963-1966 and Vanemuine Theater in 1966-1973. In 1962-1963, he was the director of Rakvere Theatre. In the years 1973–1982, he worked as an administrator at Estonian Television, from 1984 he played as a guest at Vanalinnastudio.
He has also acted in films, in ("Possessed Curves" (1959), "In the Rain and Sun" (1960) and "Stereo" (1978/1991).
He has published memoirs ("On the Stage of Life Theatre" I–III, 2012, 2013 and 2014).
