Laura Huguette Smet is a French actress born on November 15, 1983, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, France. She is the daughter of rock musician Johnny Hallyday and actress Nathalie Baye. In 1986, Johnny Hallyday recorded the song Laura in her honor, which was written by Jean-Jacques Goldman. Initially, she wanted to be a theatrical agent like her godfather, Dominique Besnehard. She left school in 1999 to study theatre with Raymond Acquaviva. Her acting career began in 2002 when Xavier Giannoli cast her as Charlotte, a young cancer patient in Les corps impatients, following a recommendation by Olivier Assayas. For this role, she received a nomination for the César Award for Most Promising Actress, and she starred in a project the following year in 2003.
