Kwan Hoi-San was a Hong Kong actor born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. His English name was Herman Kwan. He started his career as a Cantonese opera actor in street theatre and later joined the New Voice Opera Troupe. Kwan also began singing for early Hong Kong film soundtracks and transitioned to acting in films, primarily adaptations of opera in Cantonese. He gained fame and acted in numerous lead roles. As Hong Kong films shifted towards Mandarin, Kwan's career declined, and he joined TVB, where he appeared in various roles. He suffered an apoplexy attack in 2001. Kwan Hoi-San passed away on September 11, 2006, at the age of 80.
