Akagi was one of the notable actors of Nikkatsu company alongside Yujiro Ishihara and Akira Kobayashi. He was known for his roles in the Kenju burai-chō series and The Call of the Foghorn. Akagi's life was cut short when he died at the age of 21 on February 21, 1961.
