Biography
Karena Lam Kar-Yan is a Hong Kong actress. She was discovered by a talent scout from Taiwan in 1993 at the age of fifteen while working at her family's restaurant in Vancouver. The scout persuaded her to audition for a singing contract in Taiwan. Her singing career included the release of two albums, her debut album in 1995 and her second album in 1999, although both received modest success. Her film debut occurred in 2002, marking a significant turning point in her career. She starred in three successful Hong Kong films that year, earning awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best New Performer for her role in July Rhapsody, directed by Ann Hui.
