John George was a Syrian actor born in Aleppo, Syria on January 20, 1898. He came to the United States in 1912 via France. His original name was Tufei Filhela, and on his 1925 United States citizenship naturalization Declaration of Intention document, he signed his name as Tufei Filhela known as John George. His surname was neither Filthela nor Fatella. George began appearing in films in 1916, working in films of all genres alongside countless stars, and much later in his career he appeared in several television series. The vast majority of his roles throughout the years were uncredited bit parts for the briefest of appearances. He had 175 known acting credits. John George died on August 25, 1968 at the age of 70.
