Joanna Kulig-Bochniak, also known as Joanna Kulig, is a Polish actress and singer born on June 24, 1982, in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland. Noted for performing in different languages, she has worked in film, television, radio, and on stage. After an unsuccessful attempt at a career as a jazz singer, she enrolled at the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków, graduating in 2007, and began performing on stage while still in drama school. She is the recipient of a European Film Award, specifically for her role as Zula Lichońová in the 2018 historical drama film Studená válka, as well as two Polish Film Awards. In 2018, the Polish magazine Wprost included her among the 50 most influential Poles.
