Valerie Jill Haworth was an English-American actress born in Hove, Sussex, on August 15, 1945, to a textile magnate father and a mother named Nancy who trained as a ballet dancer. Named Valerie Jill in honour of Victory over Japan Day, she took ballet lessons at the Sadlers Wells Ballet School starting in 1953 after her parents separated, and later attended the Corona Stage School. Haworth appeared in films throughout the 1960s and began making television guest appearances in 1963. On stage, she originated the role of Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret on Broadway in 1966. She passed away on January 3, 2011.
