Biography

Jessica Schwarz (born May 5, 1977, in Erbach, Hesse) is a German actress, voice-over artist, audiobook narrator, and television presenter.

Schwarz grew up in Michelstadt, where her parents run the Michelstädter Rathausbräu brewpub and restaurant. Her career began in 1993 when she was chosen as the "Bravo-Girl." Shortly thereafter, she appeared twice on the cover of the magazine Bravo Girl. She subsequently worked as a model and later as a presenter for the music television channel VIVA, where she hosted the programs Film ab and Interaktiv. She also served as an online presenter for the ZDF show Wetten, dass..?. For several years now, she has focused primarily on acting.

Schwarz gained wider recognition through roles in feature films such as Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and as Tony Buddenbrook in Buddenbrooks. She also garnered significant attention in 2009 for her portrayal of Romy Schneider in the German television film Romy. Furthermore, she worked as a voice actress on the German dubs of the animated films Flushed Away and Surf's Up.

Together with Elyas M’Barek, she hosted the gala ceremony for the 2012 German Film Awards.

Until the year 2000, the actress was in a relationship with comedian Oliver Pocher. Schwarz and actor Daniel Brühl met in 2001 during the filming of Nichts bereuen and remained a couple until 2006.

In 2008, Schwarz and her sister opened a hotel and café in their hometown of Michelstadt.

Between 2010 and 2019, she was in a relationship with Austrian cinematographer Markus Selikovsky.

On July 24, 2021, she married her partner, Louis-Freytag Beckmann, in her hometown of Michelstadt. The couple has been together since March 2020 and opened a glamping hotel in Portugal in March 2021. The couple has also been residing there since the summer of 2020.
