Jeon Mi‑do was born on 4 August 1982 in Busan, South Korea. She is the only daughter of three children and was raised by her mother after her father's death. Her performing career began on stage, where she made her acting debut in the musical Mr. Mouse in 2006. After more than a decade of theatrical work, she entered television with a minor role in the 2018 series Mother. The following year she appeared in the fantasy film Metamorphosis, marking her first appearance on the big screen.

Jeon’s first leading role came with the medical drama Hospital Playlist. During the audition process she initially believed she was being considered for a patient part, but director Shin Won‑ho indicated that he was contemplating her for the lead character, Song‑hwa. Shin later remarked that the character seemed destined for Jeon. Her portrayal in the series earned her a nomination for Best New Actress in the television category. Since these milestones, Jeon Mi‑do has been recognized for her transition from stage to screen and for establishing herself as a prominent actress in contemporary South Korean television.
