She made her film debut in 1982 portraying Cushie in The World According to Garp and played an American groupie in Pink Floyd The Wall that same year. Her subsequent film appearances include roles as Eileen in The Wild Life and Felicia in St. Elmo's Fire. She starred with Anthony Michael Hall in the 1986 thriller Out of Bounds, played Mae in the 1987 cult horror classic Near Dark alongside Adrian Pasdar, and appeared in the 1988 drama The Chocolate War with Ilan Mitchell-Smith.
