Also known by the names Janet Louise Johnson and Janet Johnson, her acting career began in the early 1970s and spanned television and genre films from the late 1970s through the early 1990s. Early in her career, she appeared on shows such as Alias Smith and Jones before achieving a breakout role as Nancy Drew in The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries in 1978, succeeding Pamela Sue Martin. During the same period, she played Lieutenant Brie on Battlestar Galactica and Tommy on the cult series B.J. and the Bear.
