Jan Decleir is a Belgian film, television, and stage actor born on February 14, 1946, in Niel, Flanders, Belgium. Recognized as a central figure in Flemish cultural life and one of the most important figures in Flemish cinema, he has a known total of 122 acting credits. He made his film debut in the 1971 movie Mira. Decleir subsequently gained international recognition for his performances in the 1992 Oscar-nominated drama Daens and in the 1997 film Character, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
