Jacqueline Fontaine, also known as Joyce Elain, was born on August 14, 1927, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and died on August 1, 1995, at the age of 67. She was the raven-haired daughter of Orlando and Emma Romeo and studied at McKinley Junior High School and Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha. She performed in Chicago clubs before moving to Los Angeles, where she appeared in George White's Scandals, Billy Gray's Band Box, as a dancer at LaConga, and on local television. Columnist Dorothy Kilgallen noted her as a dancer at LaConga in July 1946. Her television work caught the attention of producer Ron Ormond, who cast her without a screen test in the 1952 film Outlaw Women. She also previously appeared with Mickey Rooney.
