Saahabzaade Irfan Ali Khan (7 January 1967 – 29 April 2020), credited as Irrfan Khan or simply Irrfan, was an Indian male actor born in Jaipur, Rajasthan. His career, spanning almost thirty years, encompassed work primarily in Hindi cinema as well as roles in British and Hollywood productions, with more than fifty domestic films among his 125 credited performances. He received a National Film Award and Filmfare Awards in four categories, and in 2011 was honoured with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth‑highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field. Film critics and peers regarded him as one of Indian cinema’s finest for his versatile, natural acting style. Earlier in life he was a skilled cricket player, selected for the CK Nayudu Tournament in his early twenties.
