Biography
Igor Aleynikov was a director and the primary ideologist behind the parallel cinema movement, a niche for independent filmmakers. He served as a leader and popularizer of this movement and founded the CINE FANTOM film festival. Additionally, Aleynikov acted as the editor-in-chief of the CINE FANTOM samizdat magazine dedicated to cinema. Throughout his career, he authored and directed more than 30 films and served as both a participant and a jury member at various international film and video festivals. Born in Grozny, Aleynikov lived and worked in Moscow. He died alongside his wife, Vera, in a plane crash near Mezhdurechensk.
