Harry Shum Jr. is a Costa Rican-born American actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer of Chinese descent who was born on April 28, 1982, in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica. He is best known for his television roles as Mike Chang on the Fox series Glee from 2009 to 2015 and as Magnus Bane on the Freeform series Shadowhunters from 2016 to 2019. For his performance in Glee, he received four Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and won once. He also won the award for The Male TV Star of 2018 at the E! People's Choice Awards for Shadowhunters. His film appearances include Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D, White Frog, Revenge of the Green Dragons, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, and Crazy Rich Asians.
