Grażyna Szapołowska is a Polish film and theatre actress born on September 19, 1953, in Bydgoszcz, Poland. After passing the baccalauréat, she joined the Wroclaw Theatre of Pantomime and later graduated from The Theatre Art School in Warsaw in 1977. From 1977 until 1984, she was a member of the theatrical company of the National Theatre in Warsaw. She is best known for starring in A Short Film About Love in 1988, directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski, and in its earlier and shorter form, the sixth episode of Dekalog. She suggested a different ending for the full-length version to Kieślowski and had previously starred in another of his films, Bez końca.
