Gen Hoshino, born January 28 1981 in Saitama, Japan, is a Japanese singer‑songwriter, musician, actor and writer. He began his acting career in television dramas and stage productions before making his film debut in Lee Sang‑il’s 69, an adaptation of Ryū Murakami’s novel. In 2012 he entered voice acting, portraying Buddha in the original video animation of Hikaru Nakamura’s manga Saint Young Men, and he performed the theme song “Gag” for the 2013 theatrical release, reprising the role. The following year he played the lead character in Masahide Ichii’s Blindly in Love (Hakoiri Musuko no Koi) opposite Kaho, and he also appeared in Sion Sono’s film Why D.
