Elyas M'Barek is an Austrian actor born in Munich, Germany, on May 29, 1982. He made his first feature film appearance while still in school, playing the character Blaubart in Dennis Gansel’s film Mädchen, Mädchen. He later played the macho character Cemil Cem Öztürk in the ARD early-evening series Türkisch für Anfänger, which follows a Turkish-descended father who moves in with a German woman and her children. For his performance in the series, M’Barek received the German Television Prize for Best Lead Actor in a Series in 2006, and the series itself won the award for Best Series that same year. Additionally, M’Barek played one of the lead roles in the film Wholetrain, which is set within the graffiti scene.
