Domee Shi is a Canadian animator, film director, and screenwriter born on September 8, 1989, in Chongqing, China. She began working for Pixar in 2011 as a storyboard artist, contributing to films such as Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, and Toy Story 4, and served as an additional story artist for Incredibles 2. Shi directed the short film Bao and the feature film Turning Red. She became the first woman to direct a short film and the first woman with sole director's credit on a feature film for Pixar. She also worked on Elio, which was revealed in June 2024 with a planned release date of June 13, 2025, and officially confirmed in August 2024 to be co-directed by Shi and Madeline Sharafian.
