Jesse Delos Jewkes was an actor and singer known for his distinctive bass voice. Born on October 21, 1895, in Orangeville, Utah, he appeared in hundreds of films throughout his career, working alongside stars such as Shirley Temple and John Wayne, and appearing in all of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy's films. His notable film work includes supplying the voice of God in Cecil B. De Mille's The Ten Commandments, voicing Tarzan in Tarzan Finds a Son, and appearing in The Wizard of Oz, My Gal Sal, and Naughty Marietta. He also performed on the Orpheum-Keith Vaudeville Circuit, sang with the Salt Lake Philharmonic Orchestra, and performed in the bass section of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He was married to Belle Augusta Gardner and died on July 17, 1984, in Provo, Utah.

Jewkes was married to Belle Augusta Gardner. He died of a heart attack on July 17, 1984, in Provo, Utah, at the age of 88.
