Biography
Delbert Mann was an American television and film director. He was born on January 30, 1920, in Lawrence, Kansas, USA. Mann directed the film Marty, which was adapted from a 1953 teleplay that he also directed. The film Marty won the Academy Award for Best Director. Mann was the president of the Directors Guild of America from 1967 to 1971. He won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for the film Marty, making him one of the few directors to win both an Oscar and a Cannes Palme d'Or for the same film. Mann died on November 11, 2007, at the age of 87.
