David Bruce was an American film actor born in Kankakee, Illinois, whose given name was Marden Andrew McBroom. A Northwestern University graduate, he was a company member of the Peninsula Players Theatre in Fish Creek, Wisconsin in 1939. In 1940, he signed a movie contract with Warner Brothers, which he was later released from to join the Naval Air Force at the outset of World War II before being discharged due to a chronic ear infection. During his career from the 1940s until 1955, when he decided to give up acting, he appeared in over 60 movies. He is known for his performance as Ted Allison in The Mad Ghoul and for his appearances in films including Flying Tigers, Christmas Holiday, and Lady on a Train.
