David Filoni, born June 7, 1974, in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, is an American filmmaker, director, producer, and screenwriter who serves as the president and chief creative officer of Lucasfilm. Widely considered the creative protégé of George Lucas, Filoni was personally hired and mentored by Lucas to oversee direction on the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He directed and wrote numerous episodes of the series, including its theatrical film. Filoni also directed multiple episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender and worked at Walt Disney Television Animation on series such as Teamo Supremo, Kim Possible, Dave the Barbarian, and Lilo and Stitch.

Continuing his work within the Star Wars franchise, Filoni created the follow-up series Star Wars Rebels, where he served as a supervising director, executive producer, and writer. He also serves as an executive producer on the live-action series The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Additionally, Filoni created, executive produced, and was the sole writer for the live-action miniseries Ahsoka, which was created for Disney+ alongside Jon Favreau as a spin-off of The Mandalorian focusing on the central character Ahsoka Tano. Filoni has accumulated 36 known credits in his career spanning animation, television, and film, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the science fiction genre.
