Claire Maurier was a French actress born on 27 March 1929 in the commune of Céret, in the Pyrénées-Orientales region of southwest France. She started her acting career in small film roles at the end of the 1940s. Maurier's first notable role was as Gilberte Doinel in the 1959 film The 400 Blows. She also appeared in the 1963 film La Cuisine au beurre as Christiane Colombey. In 1978, Maurier had a notable role in Édouard Molinaro's film La Cage aux Folles. She appeared in more than 90 films since 1947. Maurier passed away on 3 May 2026 at the age of 97.
