Biography

Christopher Joseph Columbus is an American filmmaker born on September 10, 1958, in Spangler, Pennsylvania. He studied film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he developed his interest in filmmaking. Columbus began his career writing screenplays for teen comedies in the mid-1980s, including Gremlins, The Goonies, and Young Sherlock Holmes. He made his directorial debut with the teen adventure film Adventures in Babysitting in 1987. Columbus gained significant recognition with the highly successful Christmas comedy Home Alone in 1990, followed by Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992. His 1993 comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, starring Robin Williams, also achieved box-office success.
