Cedric Klapisch is a French film director born on September 4, 1961, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Hauts-de-Seine, France. He comes from a Jewish family and his maternal grandparents were deported to Auschwitz. He studied cinema at the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle and at the University of Paris VIII. After being rejected twice by the French film school IDHEC, which is now known as La femis, he attended the film school at New York University from 1983 to 1985. During the 1980s, he began shooting short films such as In transit and Ce qui me meut. He subsequently worked as a scriptwriter and became a director, accumulating forty-eight known credits primarily in directing.
