Beginning his acting career as early as age twelve, he played guest roles in television series and appeared in German commercials for Digimon Virtual Pets. His television career officially began in 1998 with the series Hausmeister Krause. In 2000, he secured his first lead role in a feature film in Marc Rothemund’s comedy Harte Jungs. Throughout 2001 and 2002, Stein made guest appearances in German television series including Der Fahnder and SK Kölsch, and worked on television and feature films such as Schule, Die Klasse von 99, Feuer, Eis und Dosenbier, and Knallharte Jungs.
