Ashraf Abdul Ghafour was an Egyptian actor who earned an acting diploma from the High Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1963. He was married to his cousin and had a son, Taamer, and a daughter named Reeham, who also pursued a career as an actor. Born in Egypt on June 22, 1942, he had 58 known acting credits on his record before his death on December 3, 2023, at the age of 81.

He began his career on the stage, performing in roles such as Gulfidaan Haanem, also known as Lady Gulfidaan, in 1962, Soulymaan al-Halaby in 1965, and Thalaat Layaaly, translated as Three nights, also in 1965. His early stage work continued with Mawta bela kobour, meaning Dead with no graves, in 1966, followed by Masra’ Guevara, or Guevara’s death, in 1968. Later in the decade, he appeared in Watany ‘Akka, translating to My Homeland Acre, in 1968, and Al-naar wal-zaytoun, meaning Fire and olives, in 1969.

In 1967, Abdul Ghafour made his television debut when he acted in the series Al-Kaahera wal-naas, which translates to Cairo and the people, after which he also participated in further television work.
