Asami, whose stage name is written 亜紗美 and also credited as Asami Sugiura (杉浦亜紗美), was born on August 19, 1985 in Tokyo, Japan. She began her acting career at nineteen when she appeared in the film Kiss Me Or Kill Me: Todokanakutemo Aaishiteru, a role that marked her entry into cinema. Following that debut she worked in exploitation, adult, gravure idol photoshoots, and action productions, accumulating over one hundred thirteen credited appearances. Prior to acting she held jobs as a waitress, telemarketer and pachinko‑parlor employee, and after receiving her parents’ consent she forwent university studies. A friend introduced her to the industry, leading to a nude‑scene role, and in 2005 she received modeling contracts for specialized magazines and studios.
