Biography
Anurag Kashyap is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He is often regarded as the face of an emerging new wave cinema for producing numerous independent films with newcomers. Kashyap made his directorial debut with Paanch, which was affected by censorship issues. He is also known for his work as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma's crime drama Satya. Kashyap serves as a member of the board of the Mumbai-based NGO, Aangan, which helps protect children. He was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2013. Kashyap was born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India on September 10, 1972.
