In 2007, she won the championship in the first season of Catwalk Girl, after which she resigned from her job to pursue an entertainment career. She was enrolled in the Department of Finance and Banking at Kainan University, later transferring to the third year of the same department at Hsing Wu University of Science and Technology during her fourth year to balance her studies and acting career, before taking a leave of absence to focus on her career. Her stage name is written in Chinese characters as 陳庭妮 and 陈庭妮, and she is also known as Ting-Ni Chen.
