She is a graduate of the drama schools of the Karolos Koun Art Theater and the National Theater, and also studied at the Law School of Athens. Vagena has participated in numerous theater performances, including The Glass World, The Churchmen, Triseugeni, Prometheus Bound, and Camino Real. In film, her most notable role is in the 1979 film Anna's Consul, for which she received an award at the Thessaloniki festival.
