Anke Engelke was born on 21 December 1965 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Growing up trilingual, she began dubbing work as a child and later hosted television and radio programmes. She became a regular member of a weekly sketch‑show ensemble, most notably the series Ladykracher, which ran for eight seasons and is regarded as Germany’s most successful sketch format. Since 2000 she has appeared consistently in feature films, taking leading parts in titles such as Mein Sohn, Der Onkel and Mutter.
