Throughout his career, he was often billed under the names Little Angie or Moe, and sometimes as Angelo Sal. His heritage traced back to Carlentini in the Province of Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, where both of his parents were born, and he had a sister named Josephine Rossitto.

Discovered by John Barrymore, Rossitto made his screen debut opposite Barrymore. During his long career, he first appeared in silent films alongside Lon Chaney and John Barrymore. On-screen, he portrayed a wide variety of roles, ranging from dwarfs, midgets, gnomes, and pygmies to monsters, villains, and aliens. His extensive filmography includes appearances in more than 70 films, contributing to a total of 82 known acting credits on his professional record.
