Alister Grierson
Biography
Alister Grierson is an Australian film director and scriptwriter. Born in Canberra in 1969, he completed his secondary schooling at Canberra Grammar School and graduated with degrees in Economics and Arts from the Australian National University in 1995. Following his studies, he spent time studying Japanese in Tokyo. As an under-18 Australian Rules football player, he represented the ACT in the Teal Cup before switching codes to rugby, playing first grade for both his school and the Australian National University. His interest in filmmaking eventually led him to pursue a Master of Arts in Directing at AFTRS after creating a variety of self-funded short films. He is known for directing the feature film Kokoda, which he also co-wrote, as well as James Cameron's Sanctum and Bloody Hell.
